GAO 2016 STATS — 22.56% OF PROTESTS SUSTAINED

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has released its 2016 bid protest statistics.  More protests were filed in 2016 in comparison to 2015.  The rate of protest wins (i.e. protests sustained) almost doubled from the prior year, from 12% in 2015 to 22.56% in 2016.  The GAO indicated that the top reasons for upholding a protest in 2016 were  “unreasonable technical evaluation of the bidders, unreasonable evaluation of past performance, unreasonable analysis of cost or price, and a flawed decision in selecting the contract awardee.” gaostats2016
